I spend ridiculous amounts of time reading other threads to see what my chances are so I finally just decided to post my own.

I was wondering if you guys had an insight on what my chances are for the following schools:
Lehigh, Cornell, Villanova, Gettysburg, University of Maryland College Park.

I am not going to send my SATs to any of these schools, because I don't think that they require it.

They require my high and college transcripts, recommendations, and an essay.

However, my current college gpa is a 3.92, and my high school gpa was a 2.72.

I will use the essay to explain why my high school gpa was so low because of financial circumstances. I write very good essays or so I am told.

I am a Jamaican African-American male and I live in Pennsylvania.

My last semester's classes were:

Precalculus---- A
Microbiology--- A
Marketing---- A
Psychology---- A
Speech/Com--- A

I hope to pursue a Computer Science degree in one of these colleges.

Please let me know what my chances are, and include any information that can help me improve my chances.

Your high school transcript was awfully low, so I’d have to say it’s a really tough shot. Also, even if they don’t require sats, it would probably raise your chances of getting in. You need to have great test scores and show that you’re an involved citizen with a resume to follow of your ec’s. sorry, but i dont think you have much of a chance. theres just so much information left out.

Transfer acceptances to colleges like Corbell usually require sobering exceptional. Hopefully your writing absolute is exceptional enough to make up for the other weaknesses.

You don’t think I have a shot in any of these schools? Even with the poverty/ Jamaican hook? Do schools really care much about extracurriculars?

wow that sucks …i am a jamaican and i am not sure i did so well in high school as i never really thought of this day and that i would be wanting such good grades to get in a college in america … now i am trying and its like so hard … whew wish i could go back to high school lol
