Please give me my chances. I'm a senior at the top math and science school in Delaware, and want to apply to the school of engineering for computer science. I had a low GPA my freshman year of 2.7, but Sophmore year 3.53, and Junior year 3.9. This year so far it's around 4.2. My school does not rank because of the competitiveness. I have a strong essay(On growth), and a rec from my comp. sci. teacher(A CMU graduate). I took AP comp. Sci. last year, and AP Calculus AB and AP French this year. The rest of my classes are honors with the exception of English(one level below honors). I am also a teacher's assisstant to my comp. sci. teacher.

Cumulative GPA through junior year(3.4)
SAT
Math: 710 Verbal: 600
SAT II's: I will be taking Math IIc, Chemistry, and Writing.(I took practice tests and should be over 700 on all of them.
I have pretty good ec's with some leadership positions(For full stats check my post on the main chances forum.)

Since you have a 4.2 this year, its obvious your gpa is weighted, so 3.4 isnt gonna be too helpful. 1310 is in range, but on the lower end. You're gonna be dependent on EC's, SAT II's, essays, ect. I'm guessing 29.463% chance. But im not an admissions officer so i could be off on the last digit...

My unweighted GPA is freshman 2.7, sophomore 3.5, junior year 3.7, senior year 3.9(so far) which is cumulative to about 3.44uw when senior year grades are added in 3.3uw without senior grades.

even though you have a 3.3, your grades increase steadily and colleges like that so i'd say you have a pretty good shot...which school are you applying to?

I would say you have a good one, but there is no way of knowing in any way. I say wait and see what happens. If you don't get in, it's our loss-although engineering is pretty hardcore.

Colleges really like to see improvement, in fact, it sort of separates you from the monotonous applicants with extrvagant and consistent GPAs, and absolutely no fluctuation.. don't you think they get tired of seeing that all the time? I'd say you have a good chance.

You have as good of a chance as anyone!! GOOD LUCK DUDE

And yeah, I think it probably does help you to have shown improvement as opposed to someone who has always had grades come easily to them...they don't want to enroll an ENTIRE class of the 1500 club memers! ;-)
