Do I have any chance?

I really want to attend UCSB but I have a 3.18 unweighted UC gpa and a 3.5 weighted. I've had people read my personal statements and majority rated them a 10. I have only had 3 APs, been in 4 clubs, played soccer for 10 years now, played soccer for the school during 9th( I am planning to do so again as a senior), was an assistant coach for youth division for A.Y.S.O, rowed for a year,am a volunteer guitar tutor ,volunteered taking care of a type 1 diabetic/amputee for about 6 years, and volunteered at a local daycare for 3 years. I also am able to get 2 letter of recommendations from managers of an aerospace/military company(one is an alumni). I will truly appreciate all honest feedback.

I cannot speak for every single person but I can speak for myself, I’m an incoming freshman this year so I can tell you what I did that got me accepted. First off, I wrote my personal statements a couple days before the deadline so as you can imagine they probably were not the best. But as far as EC’S I put red cross, leadership roles in link crew, city volunteering, and cross country and track my freshman and sophomore year ( the fact that you only played soccer for one year in hs might not be that much of an advantage because they are looking for long term commitments i.e. all four years however the other activities in which you participated for a lengthy amount of time are worthy to mention) and soccer in ayso. I think that was all…oh and academically it seems your gpa is a bit on the low side but doable I had a 4.17 weighted gpa but my sat and act scores were average at 24 and 1720 (some would say low for a uc) so depending on your sat act scores you could definitely compensate for your gpa. P.S. I know this sucks but UCSB DOES NOT accept recomendations, they simply will not read them or take them into consideration because there are so many applicants, an academic advisor there basically said your personal statement is basically your “interview” so leave it all on the table there and sell your self as a well rounded person blah blah hah i hope I was some help good luck :)

Thanks for your response.
