I am black and live in an urban area full of poverty and crime. Only about 55% of students graduate from my high school. I take all honors classes, but honestly, they're not particularly challenging. I have 2 little sisters (12 and 9) and my family makes about $30k a year. No one in my family has gone to college. My school doesn't really offer any extracurricular opportunities, so I'm not involved in any, but I do like to write sometimes in my free time.
People told me to look in to Questbridge, but looking at others' stats, it seems like I don't even have a chance. Do I?</p>
<p>You have excellent chances for Finalist, just work up that SAT score. Maybe take a few ACT practice tests and see if you’re better suited to that. What are your extracurriculars like?</p>
