Do I have any chance?

So I am a junior in high school and brown is my dream school… Do I have any shot?

Freshman year:
5 honors, 3 non honors, straight A’s and A+'s
I took the hardest possible course load I could that year

Sophomore year:
6 honors, 2 non honors, straight A’s
I took the hardest course load possible that year

Junior year:
3 AP’s, 3 honors, 1 non honor (gym forced)… But I have 2 B’s (in the 2 AP classes, but in those classes I will definitely get at least a 4 on the exam… The classes are APUSH and AP Chem, and I have at least a 90 in both classes, which is a B+ in my school), and the rest are A’s.
I took the hardest work load possible

E.C.'s
NHS
Science honor society
Drama club freshman and sophomore year, but not this year
Lead and seed (a new anti-drug program at my school run by students… I was in the first “group” of students selected to work on it in my school…)
Have submitted pieces to my school’s literary magazine
Girl Scouts- I continue to help run events

3 season varsity runner, I’ve won multiple awards for running, and I am most likely a good candidate to be a recruit as long as my other stats are “sufficient”. (My times are about what is typical for a recruit of theirs)

For SAT I should be able to get at least a 2100 based on my PSAT scores, but obviously nothing is set and stone.

So, do I have any chance? I know that my stats are sub-par, but I do have the hook of possibly being a recruit. Both my parents didnt go to college and I am gay (not a minority hook, but I am involved in school lgqbt events), and I am in the top 5 % of my class. If I have no chance at brown, does anyone have any suggestions on what schools I should try for based off of my stats?

Thanks!

any volunteer work? Right now, sorry to say it, you’re not such a strong applicant, but in the little time you have left before applying to college you could volunteer in something in your community and demonstrate a little leadership in one of those ECs you have going on. Then work hard on your SAT and your essay!
Wish you the best!

I think the need for tons of volunteer hours is a bit of a high school myth. I would say work hard on getting your track times down, maintaining your good grades and prepping for the SAT’s. Have you taken any SAT 2 tests yet? Have you contacted the Brown coach or filled out the Brown athletic questionnaire? You may want to check with someone in the know on the timing of your recruiting contacts - perhaps your track coach and/or guidance counselor.

Volunteer work is not a necessary component. It can be valuable but it is not necessary if you have an otherwise full schedule, (unless you are applying to PLME.) So I’d ignore that advice. My daughter didn’t have volunteer work.

OP you should be aware enough to evaluate your own chances. You can look at the Common Data Set, you can review accepted student threads here etc. You can talk to your GC about where students with your stats have been admitted in the past. Talk to your coach etc.
