Do I have any chance?

Hey guys,

I live in Canada and is currently in Grade 11. I am wodering my chances of getting into any of the top U.S university.

Here are my stats

GPA. -3.8 ( 7 A's out of 8 subjects) our school takes our best 8 subjects and calculate the average.

Rank- not too sure cuz the IB program I enrolled in is incorporated into a local public school but i guess taking into the difficulty of course into account , i should be about 5-10/ 140 IBers or 20/450 regulars

SAT- 2290 math (770), verbal (750), and writing (770)
SATII- Math I- 800, Math II-800. Bio- 780

AP- calculus- (maybe 4/5) taking it next year

courses:

IB HL English - 6
IB HL Bio-7
IB HL History- 7
IB SL math- 7 completed in Grade 11
IB SL Chem- 7
IB SL Mandarine- 7

TOk/EE expecting 2

total IB Score expected( ^^ if i keep up with the work) is probably around 40-43

ECs- i know comparing with others, mine doesn't look that impressing and is definately on the low side

ethnic: female chinese( I noe>< that hurts the chances since only a few international spots are allotted for asians and the competition is extremely fierce)

no final aid required( hope that would give me an edge)

Northwestern or Dartmouth would probably be my early admission choice.

I am also considering about applying for U.Penn ( Wharton) , U-Mich, Cornell.

What are my chances? I am really perplexed right now as to what i should choose as my top choice or should i even given U.S university a try. After look at all others' amazing stats and impressive ECs in the forums, I realize that mine is quite minimal. And if i do apply, what is the school i am most likely to get in and which one should i apply as early admission?( after comparing, i personally think Northwestern holds a higher chance)

btw i heard that early admission adds the chance of getting in significantly?
=_= can some fill me up a little on that ? Is it really true? cuz 50% of my friends say that all early decision applicants are generally very well-rounded, therefore it's natural that early admission has a higher rate of acceptance.

haha ^^ i will stop rambling on. and please tell me the truth( personal encouragement is greately appreciated :p)

thx alot !!!

I love your IB scores! :(

I think your GPa and SAT (I and II) would stand up well against competition.

Also, not wanting financial aid from a school doesn't really give you an edge per se.

man ur IB projected scores kick butt!! NU will love them...

and yeah, you should apply to Oxford and LSE with those predicted grades :)

Actually, not needing financial aid from NU is good because it puts you in a different pool for international students.

is there any reason why you are posting exact same thing on here, Upenn, UM-AA, What are my chances, Brown and Dartmouth?

international, huh. Its almost like canada is a different country. Silly me

No chance at all
