Well I am very scared about getting into college!
I have just sent in all my apps but i really dont know what to expect:
I am originally from Ethiopia so I am a urm, I am in the most rigorous program at my school I take 8 classes and they are all IB and one honors Calculus class. The problem is I have a very mediocre GPA(3.6) and a VERY bad SAT score(1670). I really know my potential it just been hard to balance IB classes and provide supplemental income for my mother by working everyday. My parents divorced when I went into highschool, and he basically disappeared from our lives and showed up on occasion causing even more conflict. But my mom really didnt work before hand and she has little to no english skills, but a mortgage and two kids so I had to help. So it was a challenge balancing the two. My essay is pretty good, I have some ECs(Class president 3 years, this year secretary, BETA club, KEY Club Head of Fundraiser, Community service 240+ hours, I Co-founded a volunteer group geared toward helping immigrant kids and their families with school, work, and documents, Coordinated fund raiser for a non-profit organization that helped kids suffering with HIV AIDS, Earth Club, Math Team Medal Recipient from GA Tech, and Boys and Girls Club Volunteer ) I have a couple of safe schools but these are the schools I want to go to! Do I stand a chance?
