Do I have any chances at JHU/Fu Foundation?

I have wanted to go to JHU for a while now, particularly the BME program (I have abandoned this hope though, and now just want to get into the college).

SAT I... 2400

SAT II...
Literature: 800
Math II: 800
Biology: 800

AP...
Calc BC: 5
Spanish: 5
Bio: 5

EC:
Currently have an intership at a VERY prestigious biological organization
Currently conducting a research project which I have been told would make a good Siemen's canidate (although I just began seriously researching about a month ago)
Play football
200+ hours of misc. community service
Several poetry awards, poems published (nothing major though)
Write extensively for the school paper
Started my own online business
Worked for 2 summers as a teaching assistant
Worked for 1 summer at a local waterpark

Grades... (the bad part)
~3.2 (my school has a wierd system so I had to calculate this myself)
Senior courses:
AP Phys
AP Chem
Multivariable Calc
English
World history
Based on my improving trend, I think I can expect to see about an A/A- average in these classes

No, I am not just a good test taker--I am being dragged down by many bad grades during my freshman and softmore years. I was also dumb and took very hard classes.

Please tell me my chances if I apply ED to either JHU or Columbia engineering, and please be honest because I don't want to waste my time trying to get accepted if I have no chance.

Also, if there is any way that I could make myself look better please tell me.

Thanks for the help!

Low post count, perfect score, amazing ecs = TROLL.

I believe this one. Reasons? In particular because he/she selected chances for JHU, not the usual HYPSM. Plus, his ECs are good, but not brilliant (no offense, OP). The test scores, while questionably high, are not really improbable. And I think it's perfectly possible that he/she has been a lurker previously.

So, assuming you are real, you are a match at JHU. Perfect scores won't get you in, but Siemens would help push you over the edge.

Columbia SEAS will probably accept you. Just don't let the wishywashy attitude of "I don't want to waste my time trying to get accepted if I have no chance" seep into your essays. You definitely have a chance, and a pretty good one at that.

Edit: Ouch, I just saw your GPA. There's really no excuse for that, unless you had a really REALLY difficult schedule. With only 3 APs, I don't think that is the case, unless there's something you're not telling us? What is your class rank? If everyone in your school is struggling to get in the 3.5-4.0 range, I could see your GPA being overlooked. Given what you've presented about your GPA, though, JHU is definitely not a match, more like a reach/low reach.

3.2? ouch... want to list your courses and the grades you got in each?

What would this "prestigious" organization be?

You still haven't won Siemens. Being a candidate doesn't count for anything.

3.2 GPA?
That's lousy, unless you're in one of the best private schools in the US.
Until you have an explanation for this:

JHU: REJECT
Columbia: REJECT

Firstoff I'm not a TROLL. And yes, I do go to one of the best private highschools in the country.

*Ok so there is something that I havn't told you, which probably accounts for the drops in my grades and the reason why the upward trend did not continue. During both softmore and junior years, I had 2 disciplinary hearings (for different offences) and nearly got kicked out of school twice.

This probably eliminates my chance, but please let me know your thoughts. Since I am such a special case, I have no conception about whether or not I can get into a college like JHU.

Thanks again for your help, and please be honest.

bumpbumpbump

Class rank?

Were you ever convicted of a crime? If so, kiss your chances at JHU and SEAS goodbye.

No, I have not been sent to jail or convicted of a crime. My school does not release class rank. I would guess that I am in the top 15%

What were the disciplinary hearings for? Because the severity of the it will be a factor.

Because of this factor, I think you may have a much lower chance at the two schools than you would have.

JHU: Reach
Columbia: High Reach

I missed the part about "disciplinary hearings".
What were your offenses?

If they were severe, say goodbye to JHU and Fu Foundation.

offense 1 = drinking
offense 2 = plagiarism (but the fact that I passed the hearing says that they did not really think the incedent was a deliberate attemp to plagiarize)

Do these completely eliminate my chances? Does the fact that I stayed in the school mean anything?

Also, which schools might be other good mathches/reaches for a good BME program if these two are out of my range?

Thanks for the help

uh-oh.. you can automatically get kicked out of college for plagiarism.. that's a big no-no

This is a case where recs are of paramount importance. Your test scores are perfect, however your grades are going to be amongst the lowest of the accepted pool at these colleges. Also, it seems you've gotten into trouble throughout high school. To be honest, JHU and Fu Foundation are high reaches, there aren't many A's on your transcript. I would advise applying to Caltech and Duke as high reaches as well. Some matches may be your local state school. I can't give very accurate chances, because as you should know, your case is extremely peculiar. What's your race? This could help you get into competitive schools.
