Hi, this is my first post, this is the one question I've been wanting to ask. In my first two years of High School I was some what of a slacker, I never wanted to do homework, I never Studied, and I never Payed attention in class, my sophmore G.P.A. was 2.017. But I love to learn, I love History, Art, Literature, Science, politics, philosophy, it just never translated in to My schoolwork. this Summer I joined the Upward Bound program, a college prepratory program, I spent five weeks At the local community college. The Program opened My eyes, I started researching colleges, and it became My dream to attend An Ivy league University. The only thing that worries me is my past two years of high school. If I do exceptionly well my junior and Senior year, will my first two years come back to haunt me?

Admission directors look at all four years of high school. If you do very well on your last 2 years you may have a chance. But you will have to take AP courses and other highly advance courses to show your potential. Extra-curriculars are also very important. Do as many things as you can and show the directors how much potential you have. This may seem very shallow but your chances will also be much higher if your family has money.

Well you never know what could happen, so I advise you to do amazing over your next two years. Those first two years will be tough on you, because their will be numerous applicants who had amazing grades all 4 years of high school. I recommend you take the toughest course schedule you can, and get straight A’s, this will take a lot of work but if you want to make it to a great college it is required. You will need good SAT scores, so check the SAT prep section of the forums. Is their any hook you have, or any ECA that would make you stand out? These are all necessary in order to make it to an ivy league. Two things that may help you is that Colleges don’t put two much weight on your freshman year, and colleges love improvement over time. So just do your best and see what happens. Of you have any questions post them here.
