I think that you have a decent shot. Because you are a legacy you are evaluated as an in state tuition. Your scores are okay, but if they were a little better that would help you out a lot. Your Weighted GPA is decent, but what’s ur UW? You have really good EC’s and they show that you have a passion for government.

*I may be a little biased though because my stats are very similar to yours haha

Out-of-state legacies are not put in the in-state pool.

The legacy pool (which includes Virginians and non-Virginians) has had a similar admit rate to the Virginia pool, which is why some people have decided that they one and the same.

I can’t swear by this, since I appiled in 2006 for the 2007 class. But, if your school doesn’t rank, the the guidance counselor is asked to estimate your rank. Rank is VERY important because it shows how you do when compared with your classmates. If everyone gets easy great grades at your school, then everyone will have a high GPA; but it is the ranking of students that spells out who is really at the top of the heap.
Well, back when I applied, it meant a whole lot at many top universities, including UVA. So, just think about it a bit, and give an idea of where you fit in.
If your weighted GPA is 3.94, then I’m guessing that your unweighted is in the 3.4-3.5 range?? But if you are ranked #1 in your class then it tells me you go to a school that grades fairly harshly, but with #1 you are doing fantastically.
I had a long day today. I hope my logic makes a little bit of sense.
By the way, you have some nice EC’s and that should help your application across the board.
