Do i have any shot at Duke Engineering

what would my chances at Duke Engineering or any other major be. The only ppl i konw that went there are over 40 so it's hard for me to judge my chances. Also I used to live in the area and my sister was born at Duke hospital which is one of the reasons i've grown to love Duke.

3.7 hs gpa, 3.3 uw
1500 sat1, 7902c, 660writing, 720 biology
Very Competitive high school that doesn't rank
I play sports and have fairly strong ec's and just assume my essay's are good

Thank you all who respond

3.3 uw will hurt you significantly, dont know how much that SAT will help

also my classes were pretty tough for my schedule junior year which i sort of talked about in my essays.

soph: alg 2h, chem h
junior: trig h, chem ap, us hist ap, english 11 h, bio ap
senior: lang ap, calc bc ap, physics ap, stats ap
are my ap and honors classes.

Anyone else

not to be mean, but i'll just tell you my opinion. 3.3 uw is not a really great GPA, even after taking your courseload into account--in fact, your courseload doesn't really seem that tough compared to most if not all of the Pratt applicants. I mean, you still have a shot, but your GPA really hurts. Good luck!

did you do research in high school? I know that helped me a lot in the admission process.

3.3 is really low... i have had a competitive courseload and have a 4.0 unweighted...

what i meant by tough was the classes were demanding along with the the other stuff i was doing junior year which is when my grades were really bad. I havn't done any real individual research, but i did work at a silicon valley tech company where i did stuff in the lab.

So i knew that duke was a real longshot (far far reach), but what do u think my chances are at the UC's, Boston U, Johns Hopkins(far far reach i guess), and U of Washington.

For UC's are you in-state? If you are, I'd say you have a chance at UCSC (Santa Clara), UCSB (Santa Barbara), UCSD (San Diego), UCR (Riverside), UCI (Irvine), and UCD (Davis), but UCB (Berkeley) and UCLA seem to be reach schools. And for Boston U, and U of Washington, I'm honestly not sure. If you are talking about Johns Hopkins BME program, yea, it'll be tough. Although other areas in Johns Hopkins are also great, they are definitely easier than BME. Your GPA is still going to kill you, but I'd say if not BME, you have a bit of chance, as in it is a reach.

I think that you have a good chance at BU. The best way to find out is to look at other posts on the BU board about chances and see what others are saying about other applicants. For example, I seem to remember a person with about a 3.2 and a 1090 that people thought stood a chance (don't take my word for it, though). Good luck!

By the way, good luck!

also i have not yet sent in my sat's for schools, do i need to do a "rush scores" or is it still ok for me to send them in normally.

regular decision u can just send them normally
