So what are my chances at these schools: Declared Major of Chem Engineering
University of Maryland, College Park (Engineering School)
Johns Hopkins University
University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) maybe their honors program
Towson University as a backup
UCLA as a dream school?

University of Maryland, College Park (Engineering School)--Match
Johns Hopkins University--Match to Slight Reach (depends on your SAT IIs)
University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) maybe their honors program--Safe Match
Towson University--Safety
UCLA--Match to Slight Reach (OOS) (depends on SAT IIs)

If you can get 730/730 on your two SAT IIs, then you will be match at John Hopkins and UCLA. If you go 670/670, I consider you slight reach at these schools.

can i get a bump in here

There are much better engineering schools for the $40K(with almost no aid for oos students) than ucla. Why is it your dream school?

i love the atmosphere location and everything about it. and in a dream world money doesnt matter lol. What do you think about my other schools and could you give me any ideas about engineering schools closer to MD that are medium/ big with a good pre-med program

If you like the LA area, have you looked at Harvey Mudd? They have an excellent engineering department! It's part of the Claremont Consortium...

Have heard others say good things about Penn State Engineering. What about CMU?

If you want to go to med school, I'd think twice about undergrad engineering. It's harder to get the high gpa you'll need. As for good engineering programs nearer MD, look at CMU.

OP isn't a good fit for HMC. He wants to go into chemical engineering and we only offer a degree in general. Also Mudd would plumit his chances for med school because of the low GPAs.

pollyo:

UCLA: Slight Reach (out of state, Engineering)
