Do I have as chance for ANY bs md programs?

stats;

SAT: 2250/1470 (may retake in Nov/Dec if i need to to try to get CR up from 710)
SAT II: 800 Math ii/750 physics
GPA (unweighted); 3.8

and i dont have too many medical extra curricular activities but i've volunteered at a local hospital.

I'm going to be a senior soon and want to know if i have a chance at some bs md programs. I've seen the list of all the programs but I'm sure they're not all at the same level competitiveness (some like Brown,Northwestern,BU are harder to get into right?). I'm a NY resident so which programs are the easiest to get into (even though im sure none are 'easy')?

any info on the less competitive programs where i have a legitimate chance of getting in? do i need to try and retake the sat since i could do better on reading?

thanks for any help

Yes, you have a chance. Trust me.

Which ones do you think i should try applying to?

So far I think I might try USC/Keck and Union/AMC. Do i have a reasonable chance at those?

snorlax, you are obviously smart according to your stats-so I am guessing your essays will be decent/good so you willhave a chance. The only thing is that -demonstrating a sincere passion for medicine, in my opinion, is crucial for all bs md programs-even the smaller ones. Now, your probably are sincere about this interest, but if there is some other kid who has demonstrated this by volunteering more, etc, etc, then you are at a disadvantage.

I think your have a decent chance at USC and Union- could you elaborate more on your ec’s?

Snorlax, yes, you have a reasonable chance at those. You should apply to all the ones you mentioned in your first post.

The only reason I’m telling you this is because I thought I didn’t have a chance at any program, but applied anyways- It worked out well.

Apply widely, include programs at state schools, if bs/md route is your goal. It does not matter much, which UG you go. Some programs allow to apply out, check it out.

I pretty much have the typical clubs, sports, nhs, soup kitchen, tutoring, volunteering that most kids have so I don’t really stand out in that way. Is there anything else I could do at this point?

And yeah, I think I’ll apply to a bunch and hope for the best;
Brown PLME
USC/Keck
Union College/AMC
PSU/Jefferson
Villanova/Drexel
VCU
GWU

also, celery, where did you apply/end up getting in/ and stats maybe… please? lol.

and even if i dont get into any i’ll go through the traditional route at USC undergrad since its my number 1 choice. would be amazing if i got into USC/Keck lol but thats unlikely.

There is so much you can do at this point… your application, perhaps? Also, may I kindly suggest you enjoy your summer? :slight_smile:

To answer the second part of your question…

The programs I got into were:
Northwestern HPME
WashU in St. Louis USP in Medicine
USC Bacc/MD
Boston University SMED
UMKC

I’m not posting up my stats, sorry. Don’t hesitate to message me if you have any questions though.

nice celery! you really did amazing! Btw, did you apply to PLME?
