Hi guys,

I am new to the community and would greatly appreciate some feedback. I am going to be a senior this coming year and want to know where I stand right now when it comes to Cornell. I'll make this brief:

so far 1980 SAT, 720 Math, 650 CR, and 610 WR

3.8 GPA at an extremely respected private school in my area where the tution is about $30,000 per year, not really any AP courses offered since all the classes are considered "advanced" classes (my school has produced a number of cornellians over the years)

I am pretty active in community service and do a good bit of volunteering along with school activities, I won't go into the details for now

I am the football captain and starter on the lacrosse team

If you would like some more details let me know.

Thank you for your time and no killer comments.

Any time you guys feel like jumping in by all means please that be great haha

Given your SAT, I’m afraid to say you don’t have much of a chance, unless you’re looking for recruitment.

I would want to raise that SAT score if I was you.
Aim for 2100+ and I’d say you’d be in good standing.

Since I don’t think anyone who has responded is an admissions person, you stand just as good a chance as anyone. Cornell’s SAT range is between 1300-1500 (Writing not counted), but SAT is just one part of what they’re looking for.

You need on your application to demonstrate why Cornell, and the specific college you’re applying to, is a fit for you. Identify how the courses you have taken, the community service initiatives and your extracurricular activities support this.

This is good advice.
