I would like to transfer to CAL or UCLA from the University of Washington.
I have a 3.8, in the honors program, great internship experience, overcome hardship. Want to major in econ. I know this is not a ton of info, but I'm just trying to get a general idea of what my chances are. Thanks.

You're out of state buddy which translates into little or no chance.

Look at the privates though as they do not prefer Californians as the UC system does.

Wow...hate to say it...but don't listen to IWannaIvy...look in this forum, in the archieves not a week back or so and you will see the transfer statistics from UCLA last year. It is very possible to get in as an out of state transfer and you have above the average admitted GPA for transfers. Additionally, being from an honors college will likely help. Nothing is a shoe-in, but you are competitive!

IWannaIvy...do your research before you give advice next time please!

Not a prayer kid. Unless you have an extremely unique personal circumstance and you are an exceptional writer; No way.

Last year UCLA admitted just over 14% of all out-of-state applicants, iwannaivy is right. By the way, Ivies suck!

I absolutely think you have a decent shot at admission. I probably don't need to tell you, and this is not to discourage you, but Cal out of state is a nightmare to pay for. I am struggling to do so right now, and it is one of the main reasons I am transferring. If you don't need financial aid, of course, you can totally disregard this. :]

Pinkearmufs is right, there's no harm in trying. Who knows what will happen. The admissions process is completely unpredictable. A 3.8 is strong, I wasn't trying to discourage you, I was just pointing out the stats, and explicating the importance of your essay in overcoming the odds.

apply to michigan, roughly the same caliber as those schools and it's transfer friendly
