Do I have chance?

I am currently only in 7th grade, but I will be applying for BS this coming fall for the 2012-2013 school year - my 9th grade year.

Since I'm only in 7th grade I'm worried about taking this SSAT this fall, which by then I will be in 8th grade, but since the SSAT is for 8th thru 11th graders I'm afraid there might be some material I may not know. I generally test very well though, I've gotten almost perfect scores in our standardized testing(TCAPS) the last three years.

My list is not very long because my middle school does not offer a lot of clubs and sports.
I have the top grade average in my 7th grade class(98.7%), and was 2nd in my 6th grade class.
I am in honors pre-algebra this year(100%), and will be in honors algebra next year in 8th grade.
In honors English(98%) as well, and in a creative writing class for gifted students.
I am a student ambassador for my school.
I work as a bank teller for a Credit Union that has a branch inside our school.
I have been nominated by my teachers this year to attend the Kiwanis Leadership Camp this summer.
I am editor of our school newspaper.
Represented my school at our academic olympics and academic bowl for 2 years.
I am in BETA club.
I have played soccer for 3 years.
Cross country team for 2 years.
Vollyball team 1 year.
I am an accomplished equestrian-participate in hunt seat shows.
I am involved extensively in communicty service.

I am also from a state in the southeast that may be under-represented, which might be to my advantage.

Do you think I have a chance at a school like St. Marks, St. Andrews, Loomis Chaffee, Northfield Mount Hermon, Emma Willard, or Berkshire? I would really like Deerfield and Andover but I'm afraid they are out of my league.

What do you think? Do I have any chance?

i would say you would get into NMH,Emma willard, and you have a decent shot at loomis…u should deffinetly apply to deerfield, andover is a long shot but its worth applying

I am not an expert, but I did go through the boarding school application process just this year. You sound like a great applicant! But keep in mind that these schools are VERY selective and often turn down highly qualified applicants like yourself. Deerfield’s acceptance rate was at its lowest of 13.5%! Work hard on your essays(which shouldn’t be too hard with your writing experience) and make sure not to give out teacher recommendations too late. Study for your SSATs and it’d be great if you could take it twice (I did) because the schools take your best scores. It’s great that you’re getting a head start on the process! I am familiar with Loomis, Deerfield (where I got in and will be attending), and Andover but no other schools on your list because I only applied to schools on the top ten list. Don’t sell yourself short! You are more than qualified for Deerfield and Andover! If you have anymore questions about the process of applying or DEERFIELD  I would be happy to help you. Good luck on your prep school journey…it’s a long one.

Don’t worry about the ssat. Your percentiles will be calculated from comparing with other students your age, so no need to worry about “11th grade material”

I want to thank you all for your input. Hopefully I will work up my nerve to apply to Deerfield and Andover too, after all whats the worst that can happen other than getting rejected.

i had stats similar to yours in 7th grade, but i slipped a bit in 8th grade with all the days off for interviews and essays and test prep so was waitlisted @ loomis and rejected at Hotchkiss SPS and Deerfield. I also go to one of the best day schools in the country. My advice to you, DONT SLIP UP. make your interviews in like JULY so they will be on weekend and you wont have to miss school, also take a test prep course. The books are good but a course is better.
