am white female from Cali. from Eastern Europe, moved here at the beginning of the freshman year, changed schools after freshman year, because of that I couldn't take many ap classes (diff requirements) and also it was hard to adjust to american school

SATs:
SAT I - 630 V, 740 M, 680 W - 2050 total
again english is only my 3rd language, hence the low verbal score)
SAT II -
Bio E - 720
Chem - 680
Math 2 - 620 (will def retake, math is my strong subject, but at the day of the test my calc was weird and i didn't study at all so i wasn't ready at all)

TOEFL - 112 (out of 120)

Extracurriculars (very weak!)
- tennis club team all 3 years
40 hours volunteering freshman year
9th grade - pr officer of class of 2010
international club 10-11
all summers in eastern europe - i worked at my dad's office(10-11 grades)
love languages, fluent in 2, know english pretty well, learning 2 others, skipped spanish 4 because i did so well, try to practice with native spekers often
honors roll all 3 years
... can't think of more. I know they are very weak, but it was hard for me since my english isn't that good (considering accent especially), the way of life is totally different etc

im not really sure about a lot of these schools…but i know that for Stanford/Harvard/Northwestern at least, your SATs/GPA are going to make it veryy difficult for you to get in. Your ECs arent that bad, necessarily, but the other stuff lowers your chances significantly

Despite your SAT scores not being a perfect 2400, I think you have a decent chance. How are your essays and recs coming along? And also, are you challenging yourself with a rigorous class schedule this year?

i think you need more fits… you have more than enough safeties but your fits are either too high or too low so that you cant really say fits. try notre dame, emory, washU, USC

The first step for you is going to be narrowing down your college list. 21 colleges?! Wow… all of the supplemental essays would be REALLY overwhelming to me, and English IS my first language!

I agree with what others have said: for the top, top schools, your GPA is pretty low. I don’t think your SATs are terrible, but they’re not going to help you. However, you’re really not as bad off as you make yourself out to be.

Here’s what I would reccomend:
UMichigan, Boston college, Syracuse, Macalester, Tufts, Cornell U, Northwestern, Bucknell, Kenyon, Wesleyan, Pittsburgh U

And yes, I’m taking 4 Ap’s this year - Physics, Calculus, Art History, Spanish
recommendations are from Spanish teacher (hopefully pretty amazing) and math teacher (nothing special, but positive)
