i mainly focus on writing, guitar, and crew.

I know or am related to people who go to or are alum of my universities of interest(specified above).

Just wanted to see if im on the right track to getting into ivy leagues and if theres anything i can do to better my chances.

You seem to be a great candidate for top schools but just make sure you do your research and don't go solely on the brand "Ivy League". It is just a football conference after all.

Perhaps a football conference... but the name can have much deeper implications upon your future career. Get your aunt to write you a rec letter to Dartmouth. You'll have a great shot there.

You're on the right track. Don't get any more B's, jockey for leadership positions in your activities (try not to quit any, that shows lack of commitment), and start thinking about essays.

Oh and score at least a 2100 on both your SAT I & II unless ur an URM.
If you think it'll help, have your parents get you a tutor or something.

Great advice ^^^

But most of all...HAVE FUN! Enjoy your time in HS and soak up all the knowledge you can. A love for learning will take you much further in life than a love for success. You'll find the right school for you if you do your research.

And on the topic of SAT's. START STUDYING EARLY. If I could have changed one thing about my HS it would be the fact that I underestimated the SAT. It crushed me the first time b.c I thought that my general knowledge would be enough. I had to work extremely hard last summer to get my best score on the test and fortunately it was enough for me to get into my top choice. Don't want to wish that stress on anyone!

Best of luck my friend!

Keep your grades up too! Remember that a lot of colleges - and Princeton in particular - do not even look at your freshman grades, so keep up the good work.

correction: score at least a 2250 on your SAT unless you're a URM

(if you're thinking HYP)

yes thank God princeton doesnt even look at freshman grades otherwise i never would have gotten in

u say that "4 out of our 6 Varsity runners are top ten in country." i follow high school xc and know for a fact that's bs. maybe u meant county?

yea sorry about that, we have paul springer who is at least in the top 10 in the country, but we have consistently sent alot of runners to states, we also had collin leak who is now a varsity freshmen i think at William and Marry, but overall im a much better rower then XC runner, i just do it to keep in shape and the hope that i can run a marathon before im 18 (family tradition).

um, well Paul Springer came in 39th at footlocker nationals, so i wouldnt say he's top ten. and btw, i highly doubt that anyone else from your school was all-state, let alone all-american like u claimed. i dont think that you realize that even the teams that win states dont have 4 runners ranked in the top 10 in their state- and uniondale didnt win states even in Pennsylvania, which isnt a strong xc state.. i'm sorry, and i hope this doesnt come off as too harsh, but your comments were way off the mark.

oh, and now that im done with my xc rant, i just want to say best of luck in the future! this college process is crazy and a lot based on luck- i hope you acheive your college goals, but more importantly I hope you enjoy your final years of high school!

yea but gotta remeber paul springer had strep throat at nationals and his state record time at districts was faster then the time winning time at nationals i think.
