Do I have time to get my GPA up to a good spot?

So I’m about to enter my sophomore year of college. I was never good in high school, and ended high school with a 2.7 gpa. In college im doing way better, except i ended freshman year with a 2.7 gpa, which to me is low and not good enough. Do i have enough time to redeem myself and get it at least above a 3.3 in college, or am i doomed?

It really depends on the courses you take and how well you do in them from here on out. Many students mess up in their freshman year, but as long as you can turn it around this year, you should be fine.

  1. There are plenty of GPA calculators online where you can figure out your GPA under different scenarios.
  2. Do what is under your control – do your best work over the rest of your time at school.

If you were to get straight "A"s from now on, your GPA could be around 3.6 when you graduate. It depends on how many units you’ve taken so far and how many more you will take and, of course, what grades you get. To figure your GPA; take the grade for each class times the number of units and add all those; divide that total by the total number of units you have taken. Quite easy to figure out.

The bigger question is how are you going to achieve higher grades in your classes? Go to every class and be prepared for that class. Do the homework, ask questions if you don’t understand, manage your time wisely.

Good Luck.
