Do I have time?

Cross Country is a great sport to be in . Good choice.

Another note, as far as the "apply to lots of service academies" advice goes, if you have no desire to be in the army or on a boat in the navy, you do not have to apply there. I don't see why anyone would apply to the service academy of a branch they don't want to be in. In my interviews, I could solidly say "I want to go to USAFA because..." and that was good enough. If USAFA is your goal...go all out for USAFA.

Yeah, falcon, I really have no desire to be in the Navy or anything else. In terms of service academies, I'm only applying to USAFA.

Ever heard of cross commissioning?

I wouldn't take that risk as you can normally count on one hand the amount of people allowed to cross commision.

Yeah, and I thought that the military in general doesn't cross commission for Academy graduates because you owe your years. But i suppose its feasable after you serve for your time. But, I know that the AF looks down on it, unlike the army (no offense), who has the blue to green program.

But, don't take my word on that.

Cross commisioning is a rare thing. A few people at USAFA do it every year, from what I hear. That's like 2-5 of about 1,000 though.
