Congratulations on your acceptance to Penn State!

I am pleased to offer you admission to The Division of Undergraduate Studies for Summer 2011 at Penn State University Park. I hope that the information provided on this page will help give you a head start on thinking about your offer to Penn State.

I'm a little confused.. so this is saying I've been accepted for the summer session at University Park. Does that mean if i do the summer session i will be starting the fall at University Park as well? Would it be possible for me to not do the summer session and just start in the fall at University Park?

Yes, that is what it means You will start in summer and then be at UP in the fall as well. I’ve heard of people calling and asking them to re-evaluate their application under a different and less competitive major but if you don’t want to change your major, that sounds a little extreme.

my status is back to the coming days status becuase i asked to be reevaluated for fall becuase im coordinating an international leadership summer program…
if i get into i get to start in the fall, if i dont get fall, ill start summer.
atleast i AM accepted! just waiting to find out when i can start, PRAYING FOR FALL!!

I did not change my major, becuase i applied undecided, i checked to see if there was a risk of me losing summer if i get my app reevaluated and the admissions counselor that i talked to promised me i’d still have summer. so yes, i’m guarenteed summer for now and am hoping that i get moved into fall this way all works out and i’m able to still do my program, work, go on my cruise, and go to psu in the fall.

heyyou1234: If you attend summer session, you can register for LEAP but you don’t have to. I’d advise for you to do so, though. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. And teachers work in conjunction together on the 2 classes you take which makes it better.

First, congratulations! Secondly, if there is a compelling reason for beginning in the Fall instead of the Summer session to which you have been accepted, PSU will re-look at your application during an Admissions Appeal Board Meeting, which I believe meets once a week. The reason needs to be a tight one to even be considered: a Summer Study Abroad program, for example. The extenuating circumstance preventing summer study should be something more impressive than: “I want one last hurrah with my HS friend.” Call the Admissions Office and they will let you know more about the details.

^^^roccorules, my exact reasoning for having my app re-looked at due to me being a teen coordinator of a 12 day international summer leadership program right in the middle of july!

I GOT SWITCHED INTO FALL!!! i couldnt wait any longer so i decided to call admissions and they told me that i got switched in yesterday and that mypennstate status should be updated by monday!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Would working at the camp that I’ve been attending/working at for 11 going on 12 years (that i also wrote about in most of my college essays) helping kids to have a good summer be a compelling reason? I love PSU and want to start in the fall , but right now they’ve offered me summer business…I could do that or I could reapply and probobaly get in for undecided in the fall…best case scenario would be business in the fall.

It won’t hurt to request Admission Appeal. They won’t rescind the Summer offer even if you aren’t bumped up into Fall, so you really have nothing to lose by requesting an Appeal.
