Do I have to file fafsa with my custodial parent's information?

In a bit of a bind, so if some adult or parent can help me with this I'd be really grateful.

So, my mom has been placed as my custodial parent, at least on paper, all my life because my parents were never legally married. They split up, a few years back, and a lot of crap has happened in between and I wish to sever my ties fully with my mother due her inappropriate and stressful nature. She no longer lives with me, she's currently not legally allowed to engage with my siblings in anyway due to an order of protection granted by the court. I have basically been supported by my father for the past year, but my first two years of fafsa I used my mother's information and I have placed myself in her household. If I have been supported by my dad this whole time, is it safe to place my dad's information in fafsa now instead? Also there is a chance my mom will still file her taxes with me on them regardless; will this affect my fafsa status in any way?
Thanks

(1) Which parent did you spend more time living with during the year prior to filing? This would be your custodial parent for FAFSA purposes.

(2) If you can’t figure out the answer to #1, perhaps because you didn’t live with either, or lived with both the same amount of time, then your custodial parent for FAFSA would be the parent who provided the greater amount of financial support to you during that year.

(3) And, no, it doesn’t make a darned bit of difference who says what on their taxes, or what any court order says. The only things that count are #1 and #2 above.

(4) And, yes, your custodial parent can change from one year to the next.
