In my U South Carolina, G’town and Commonapp, they all ask for my SSN and I’m really weary about it but I was told that it’s basically necessary so they can make sure that you are the right person. I’m not applying for FA. I put it in but looking for reassurance on their safety precautions? What if my computer has a virus or something I didn’t know about? Did I just compromise my future??
It is perfectly fine for you to contact them, and to ask that they use a different identifier for your records. They will let you know if it is impossible for them to keep your files straight without the SSN.
