Hi guys. So my high school is on a block schedule with different classes each semester. My first semester as of now, I got a D in the first part of Chemistry. I'm going to end up retaking chemistry next semester so it can clear that D out with a better substitute grade. Do I have to inform all the colleges I'm applying to that I'm retaking the class next semester? As in contacting the Admissions Office of each school? Also, will they just revoke my application because they see I have that D and I still have to retake it? Do they discriminate on the fact that I didn't pass it the first time? Thank you!!

Yes, you need to contact them. They will take the D into account when making their decisions, but it won’t be an “automatic” rejection.

Talk to your counselor. But keep in mind that college offers of acceptance are conditional meaning that if the transcript you submitted while applying differs “significantly” from final transcript they could revoke their offer. Please keep in mind that the choice of the word “significantly” is my word, not any schools. I don’t know the exact criteria academic wise any one college would use to withdraw an offer. IMO, however, instead of being stressed out for next 8 months or so, I think you should resolve problem now as opposed to having some college’s offer withdrawn next June.
