I found I am 12.5% Cherokee Indian. How can I use this to my advantage to get scholarships or grants? Is this something I would have to prove, and if so, what are some ways I could prove it?

Is it just Blood or do you know something about being Cherokee Indian? I think you need to have papers from the tribe you claim to be from in most cases, as well as proof of bloodline, which the tribe would have to see as well. Perhaps a family tree or whatnot would be sufficient, and if you show the Cherokee Tribe that you're really interested in your heritage and their past and present lifestyle.

It may very well depend on the school, but if you're not really Native American in life then...well...wouldn't it kind of be a stretch of the truth? Although that's something only you can decide.
