Do I have to report any classes that I took a W in when I apply?

Here is my situation. I was enrolled in my community college's Math 125 course (remedial math, Algebra 2, doesn't transfer to a UC) for about the first six weeks and then I dropped it. The reason being is that my community college has a test that we can take to challenge our placement results. If you do well on it then you can move up in the placement process.

As soon as I heard about this I dropped my remedial math course and took the test. I passed and I am now eligible to enroll in a statistics course that will count for my math GE on the IGETC. Do I still need to report that I was enrolled in Math 125?

If there is a “W” on your transcript from the course then yes, you have to report it. You want what you report and your transcripts to match exactly. If you send in your transcript and they see a W you didn’t report they have the right to revoke your admission. Also, I think most people think a W on a transcript is worse then it actually is. The UC’s don’t really care about W’s as long as it’s not the same class a few times. Just put in the addition comments why you have your W and you’ll be fine.

Thanks man. Yeah, I’m not worried about a W appearing on my transcript. I was just a bit puzzled about the situation due to my circumstances.

Report everything! Even if you think it does not matter.
