Hi there ! I wanted to know if I were to take one class at a community college after graduating with my AA from that same college, would I need to send the transcript for that one class to the university I’m transferring to? The class is for a study abroad trip but it’s Spanish Literature and I’m afraid I won’t do well but I want to go on the trip. I’m also afraid of this class affecting my gpa if I don’t do well. I would be re-enrolling in the community college as a non-degree seeking student and that would be the only class I would take in the summer. Let me know if you have any experience with this. I want to know if this class would affect my gpa that I graduated with and if I would need to send the transcript to the university for that one class.
Side note: Would this class show up on my transcript from when I was earning my AA? Or would it be a completely different transcript ?
Yes, you need to send transcripts from every class at every college. There is a national clearinghouse colleges use to make sure you have done exactly that. You’ll have to ask an advisor at the AA college whether the additional class would be factored in to your old GPA from your degree program and/or show on a different transcript, however. They might have some flexibility on that, although you can’t control what the new college will do with it (they may recalculate GPA according to their own system).
Can you audit that last summer class?
Thank you so much for your reply, it really means a lot. I’m not sure if I can. I know that if I put in the work I will be fine but I rather not have so much work to worry about in a 6 week course; hence my proposition to not send the transcript. But, I will not risk it and if I decide to take the class I will send it.
I am very glad I posted this discussion and that you replied, you saved me !
