I want to transfer to Cornell as a junior but my SAT scores from high school were BAD (1570/2400). I’m currently a community college student with a 4.00 GPA and 64 credits. I feel that sending my SAT scores will dramatically decrease my chances of getting accepted. Its website states the following for transfer applicants:
“If you have previously taken the SAT or ACT, you should have an official score report sent to Cornell by the testing agency. It is not necessary to take the SAT or ACT if you have not previously done so.”
Should I send the school my SAT score? Will they know I took the SAT if I don’t send it to them?
@shamwoox If I may ask, why did you not take the SAT/ACT again since high school? I wouldnt recommend hiding information. However, if you can take one of these and report the scores.
@just_nag During my first year in college, I never considered applying to Cornell because I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do yet. It wasn’t until 2 months ago when I decided that I would give it shot now that I’m confident in what I want to major. I did plan to retake the SAT and prepped for it all month, but then I found out that I got accepted into PennApps, which happened to be on the same week as the SAT (Jan 21). Cornell’s transfer application deadline for fall 2017 is March 15. The next SAT date is on March 11, but by the time I receive my score, the application deadline would have already passed.
How many years ago did you take the previous SAT? If it was more than a few years ago, you probably can take the route that you are thinking. I am not sure if colleges have a way of finding out if you have taken these tests or not.
