Do I have to send in samples?

If I convey a passion for photography in my application, and perhaps write an essay on it, would it be desirable for me to send in samples of my photographs? Will they otherwise question my credibility?

I can send stuff in, but I hope they like my stuff lol!

bumpity bump

If your stuff is REALLY good, send it in. If not, then an essay would be enough. Maybe a supplemental rec from a photo teacher?

OP, you do not have to send in material to bolster credibility.

If you sent in a file with some of your work it will be forwarded to the art department where a faculty member will give it a grade and send it back to admissions. If it is good compared to art students it will help.

Haha, well all of my photography is a completely independent job - I don’t take art or photo classes. We don’t have any photo teachers around - just an art teacher who I’ve never been taught by!

I could write an essay about it, but is it a bit of a typical topic to talk about? I know a way in which I could incorporate the topic to show the kind of character I have.

Would it be a bad idea to submit an extra essay about photography to all the colleges?
