It doesn’t matter whether the scholarship money goes directly to you or to the college, BC REQUIRES that you report outside scholarships received.
At BC, you shouldn’t HAVE any unmet need…because the school guarantees to meet full need for all accepted students…as BC calculates that need to be.
Please…be honest…you are fortunate to have received these scholarships. They will first reduce the self help portions of your aid…your loans, and your work study.
If you find that you need the loans…you can ask the financial aid department if you can still take them AFTER your outside scholarships are credited to your accounts. Because your need will have been met already, the Direct Loan will likely be UNsubsidized instead of subsidized…probably. But you can get that $5500 Direct Loan.
And you can look for a job that isn’t a work study job if that portion gets reduced as well.
Colleges DO expect that families will pay the family contribution…and need based aid is not awarded for that.
