....Or can I stay in one of the other residence halls? My friend (with who I would like to room) has not applied for the honors program. Can she stay in Myers hall if she is rooming with me?

Apropos of that, what are my chances of getting into Myers (or any other housing) if have not yet registered for housing or paid any deposit, but intend to do so this week (Feb 17-22)?

No, you don’t have to stay in Myers if you’re in the Honors program. The roommate might be able to stay in Myers with you if there’s available space, but you won’t know until the lat minute.

No problem with still getting into a dorm if you register this week. Housing commitments are far from over at this point.

Hey! I’m a current honors student at UGA. When I got accepted to the program last April I was really only excited because Myers was such a nice dorm.

Myers is far nicer than any of the other dorms available to freshmen with the exception of Rutherford, which is available to students who are accepted to the Franklin Residential College. I live there now and if you ever come down to Athens, I’d be happy to give you a tour. For me it came down to what did I want to come home to. The high rises and Hill community might have been more social but at Myers I have clean bathrooms, a big room, a nice lobby, study rooms, and a community of people in the same classes as me. I always feel I can go out to socialize but Myers was definitely the right choice for me.

If you want something where you live in a more social place (and this varies from class to class), I’d choose something in the Hill community–bigger rooms, in-room temperature control, sinks in rooms, close to 2 dining halls, in the middle of campus, and open to freshmen.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I’d recommend joining the UGA Class of 2018 Facebook page for more info!
