A lot of places say they will take the ACT + writing in lieu of the SAT + subject tests. However, some sites say that this policy should not be taken by face value and it is highly recommended to take the subject test with the ACT.

Can someone shed some light on this topic?

It depends on the college, some require them, some don’t. I would recommend taking some anyway, cuz a good score will help you even if it isn’t required.

Go herer for a list of colleges that require, recommend or consider SAT IIs:[Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group)

In the required column you will see for some of the colleges that there is an * next to the number. That means the college takes the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs. Those without an * require IIs even if you submit ACT.

A number of the * schools are not specific but ones which have spoke, e.g., Yale and Penn, state that if you are relying on ACT they will not consider the SAT IIs for admission even if submitted.
