<p>I didn't take the math sat 2, nor the AP Calc test. However, I want to enroll in the lowest math class offered, Precalc (for science majors), even though I could be qualified for Math 10. I just want to really get a firm grasp on the material before heading into calculus. </p>

<p>yes, im pretty sure you have to, so you arent being enrolled in a class lower than your level. Just like if you passed the AP test you cant take a lower class for credit, they dont want people coming in taking classes they wouldnt even have to put any effort into, and theyd want to know your “level” before you start any classes. I could be wrong, but this is what I believe their policy would be</p>

<p>are you science major yourself? if so, i’m pretty sure you shouldn’t enroll in 10A and you should either take 20A or 4C (the precalc class).</p>
<p>i’m gonna be a chem major and i have to take 4C before I enroll into 20A; but I’m thinkin’ like you, it might be better this way so i can REALLY learn the material.</p>

<p>Oh yeah, bio majors can take the 10 series. But chem/physics are recommended to take the 20. </p>
<p>And unfortunately not, you can’t place higher than what you test into. If that were the case i’d be able to take 20A right now. :// The point of the test is to place you where you belong, not any higher or lower. So they won’t let you enroll in a course that’s higher than what you test into.</p>
<p>ok, so the test if offered the 18th, 24th, and 25th of Sept. Will I find out my results right after taking the test so I’ll know whether not I need to retake it?</p>
<p>you wont find out your results for a long time, think SAT/ACT here, you probably wont be taking math in Fall</p>
<p>It says on the math placement website that you’ll find out within a week of taking it</p>
<p>oh shoot, my bad then, lol expect it in a week, and you can check your results with a link through that website , i swear it used to take longer</p>

<p>So in that case, what if I test higher than the couse I was supposed to take next according to my High school record…can I move on to my REAL math level and continue advancing with out having to study material I already know?..it really intrigues me; if the math placement test can help you skip known material? even if pased records don’t show trace of the knowledge…</p>
