Do I HAVE to take the Physics 7C placement test?

I checked what tests I had to take using this site:

UCI Testing Office

And it says that Computer Science majors must take the Physics 7C test. The problem is that I only took AP Physics B during High School (and I got a 2 on it) because AP Physics C wasn't offered, so if I were to take this test would I be at a severe disadvantage?

Is it possible to not take this placement test and just enroll directly into Physics 2 instead?

Physics 7C Exam

Test is easy. Since it is online you can even crack open your book or Wikipedia it.

Sure you can take physic 2 but that would be a waste of quarter. If that is what you want to do, then go for it.

I swear, the placement test is like, 80 percent calculus. Not physics calculus exactly, just pure math calculus, like finding derivatives of functions and integrals and such.

yahoowizard:

Lol really, all calculus? So, could I take the test with only Calc. AB knowledge/no Physics and perhaps be able to pass the test? :3 If so, I might do it lol.

Would taking the test and failing harm me in anyway?

The physics test can be taken online? I thought that was just for the calculus test.

I passed it without any physics knowledge at all, at least. I skipped it when we learnt it in 8th grade, never took it in high school, but just barely passed the Physics placement test. I have like, 0 expertise with physics so on those few problems I just randomly ABCDE’d them. Like, in all honesty, I was trying to fail it so that I could get into the lowest physics class (since I didn’t realize I had to take more physics classes that way and just wanted to start at a lower level, but turns out I never needed the test anyway) but yeah. That was my experience, and the math wasn’t too bad by what I remember. I did take AB and BC but yeah, I don’t remember all that much, but pretty sure it was simple calculus.
