@ClassicRockerDad I know someone who works there and I know students who have graduated from the engineering program as recently as this past year. I’m certainly not saying that it is a top program along the lines of the OP’s reaches, but Manhattan does have a solid engineering school and if the OP is looking for a safety and/or merit aid, it is worth consideration.

As others have said, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon and Cooper Union are unrealistically high reaches with your current SAT scores. If you somehow miraculously got in, you would be unlikely to be successful in engineering at those schools. The rest all seem to be reasonable, with a range of safeties, matches, and reaches. I somewhat question NC State, since most out-of-state public schools offer almost no aid.

I think the UMBC suggestion is a great one, given the great support they offer to their students.

What is your financial situation? Will you qualify for need-based financial aid? Ask your parents to calculate the EFC at some of your schools, and if they are willing & able to contribute the EFC towards your education? Are you looking for merit aid? These questions will have a lot of influence on the group of schools that you should apply to.
