Do I have too many recommendations?

Hi I am applying for sophomore transfer to Uchicago, upenn, northwestern and nyu.

I go to St Johns

I currently have recs from:

Dean of my current school (he was my professor for economics)

Graduate professor/famous author at columbia univeristy (I won a scholarship from her)

Hedge fund company owner/alumnus of Uchicago (won a scholarship through him as well)

Philosophy professor from current school

1 from my ap bio teacher in h.s ( it is amazing)

1 from business chairperson at my h.s (also amazing)

one from my h.s counselor

I doubt they will read all of them but they are all really helpful.

what do you think?>

yes. u should only submit ur top 2 letters

I wouldn’t send the ones from high school. Is the one from the dean saying that you are in good standing? If so, send that one + 2 college professors.

but wouldnt the ones from high ranking and successful people look good?

Not necessarily, as a lukewarm rec from a bigwig will hurt your application. Choose your top three (maximum) recommendations and go with them. (Two from profs and one from another person who can speak to your abilities strongly and openly.)

it’s not WHO rights your recommendation that matters. it’s WHAT they right about that matters.
