My daughter is a Junior at Duke now. I was here looking at info on other schools for a friend but saw your post. It has been 3 years since I did this process, but knowing my daughter’s credentials, plus other kids who have been accepted at Duke over the past 3 years, I think you have an excellent shot at getting in. You did not mention URM so I’m assuming you don’t check that box, but I think you have enough great credentials that it could work. It’ll all depend on your essays. I’m curious why you didn’t apply ED. Good Luck and Go Blue Devils!
It’s with this company AAPL and isn’t directly with college board, my school is kinda wack about it, I go to Staten island Tech, but we are still allowed to list it I talked to my guidance counselor about it
I think your academics and scores are strong enough you will make the first cut. From there your ECs do portray a narrative. You will need to bring it home in your essays.
Duke Dean of Admissions recently described that when reviewing essays he reads them outline to envision the students voice. I know it is cliche but they want authenticity.
I’m a current duke undergrad and I think that it’s really hard to judge. Going by the strict quantitative things, your GPA is a little on the low end for both weighted and unweighted, and the SAT score is barely enough to make the first cut. You have a lot of good extracurriculars, but to be competitive, you would definitely need to boost your SAT score to at least 1540 to make up for the 3.7 GPA. With that much of a quantitative edge, you’ll stand out because of the combination of scores and your good extracurriculars.
