Do I honestly have a chance for admissions next year?

I'm currently a junior in high school and Georgetown is literally the ONLY school I REALLLLLLLLLY want to attend. It's my number one. I'm pretty confident in my writing and I love doing interviews, so hopefully those may be able to set me apart. Haha, I'm already nervous for next year!!!!!! =/ Any comments are appreciated. :)

your rank is pretty bad, but everything else looks ok. if you write great essays and have good recs youlll probably do fine, especially since im assuming youre going to do EA. what school are you going to apply to?

I know… my school is super competitive though. After a certain point, there’s literally .01 of a GPA point separating each student in my grade. I’m applying to SFS.

thats where im going to be applying, too! im going to RD there and ED at cornell, though.

Oh, nice!! I don’t think I’m goin to apply EA though… It looks like mainly super high ranking applicants get accepted EA and I don’t think my app is competitive enough for that! Cornell is beautiful.

Yes, you honestly do really have a chance!

But you need to have a few other choices as well, so err on applying to as many (or more) good alternates as you think reasonable!

And I would definitely consider EA, since it is not binding.

Good luck!

Apply early action, it signals interest. It definitely will not hurt your chances.

Definitely apply early action! When I was applying to Georgetown I was quite worried about my ACT only being a 28 (ended up with a 30 on a later test). However, Georgetown proved to be a school that looked at the entire person. Georgetown does not reject under ea so there is absolutely no worry of being rejected. Apply early!!!

bump10char

Are there any disadvantages to applying early action? My S does not have great grades, but he is confident that his grades this semester will be higher. So should he wait to apply regular decision?
Thanks!

If they think he has a chance, but do not want to accept him at the time, then they will defer him. Applying Early Action shouldn’t hurt him really. Also, getting the decision early (if accepted) gives him more time to weigh his options.
