Do I make an excuse?

This sounds kind of odd but I don't believe my SAT Subject test are a fair representation of my abilities. After reading through many post on this website, I have noticed that people with a lower ACT score than mine do much better than me on the Subject test. I have a 33 on the ACT and a 750 on the Math Level 2, 700 on the Physics, and 630 on American History. I believe this is due to my secondary education. To be honest my Physics/American History teachers weren't very good. My high school doesn't offer any AP courses. Should I mention that because of a lack of AP courses I wasn't well prepped for the Subject test? Would this go in additional information?

Don’t make it seem like an excuse, but you can point out that your school didn’t offer AP classes in these subjects so you had to do a lot of work on your own to prepare for the tests.

Well prepped? Are you serious? That’s way higher than the average…

I don’t think it’s necessary to say anything. Your SAT II’s aren’t bad by any means (even for ivy league-caliber schools). Your american history score is a little lower than the others, but most schools will only look at the top 2 (unless they require 3). Don’t bother…it’ll only sound like you are making lame excuses. Make sure everything else is good, and they’ll have to accept you (with or without triple-800 sat subject test scores)

Ok, thank you for the replies, I guess I forgot to mention that I was looking Ivy. Do you still think it is alright?

That sucks that your school doesn’t offer AP courses. tbqh, i’m applying still too, and idk how sat II scores are going to factor in (or how they balance against an ACT/SAT Reasoning test score).

Im trying cornell, and a bunch of “almost ivys” with one SAT II that i gave up on in the end, a 640 on Math II.

Be happy with what you got dude :)

You personally shouldn’t make the excuse; let it speak for itself. If your school doesn’t offer that big of a variety of AP courses, adcoms will see that. They will say, “Wow. He essentially taught himself American History.”

Ya, it does suck. I have 25 students in my graduating class. My Counselor/Principal won’t let me take independent study classes either. This is because it would cause them to lose some funding. So gay.
