Do I need 3?

Ok, so most colleges I've looked at only require 2 SAT Subject Tests since ACT and SAT have writing now. Do they still kind of want you to have 3, or are they really fine with 2? I ask mostly because everyone here seems to have taken 3.

The Ivy Leagues and some upper tier schools require three. Usually if a college requires only two, then just take two because they'll most likely ignore the third one.

That's the thing though, most Ivy Leagues don't seem to.

IlDesi is incorrect. The only schools that require 3 (that I know of) are Harvard, Princeton, MIT, and Georgetown.

^JHU recommends 3 :)

edit: great site that shows what schools require, recommend, or consider SAT IIs

thanks for the site, heres the thing though, i took 3 tests, did fine on 2 and bad on 1, if the school i'm applying to wants only 2, will the third score hurt me?

bicyclekick i'm in the same situation as you (two 700+ scores, 1 sub 700 score). I'm a little worried myself, but colleges usually only take the top two scores if they require or recommend only two subject tests.
