When you go to college, are you expected to bring your own computer/laptop?
What if you dont have one? How will you get all those printed assignments done? Library?

Every college that I have been to has had some computing facilities that are open to students so that you can complete and print assignments, check email, etc. Having said that, it is also apparent that with every passing year, colleges have more and more expectations that students will be conversant with using computers to complete work, and communicate with the administration and teachers. Bottom line, you can get away without owning a computer, but I think it is a bad idea and you will be less productive and less efficient. You can buy a respectable computer these days for around $500, and you might earn some of that money back by purchasing cheaper online versions of some of your textbooks.

You don’t need a computer for college, and are not expected to have one unless your major/school demands it, but it is better if you do. You don’t want to be at the mercy of the school’s computers. The biggest plus is the convenience, especially if you get a laptop that you can take around with you.

It doesn’t have to be the best or top of the line. Just get something that is enough to help you in school with the basics (typing documents, email, browsing) and handle multitasking. There is plenty to consider when buying such an investment, but research pays off.

If not, college computer labs could be enough if you don’t mind. Try it for a semester and see if you are okay with it. You should be fine either way and things will work out.
