Do I need a counselor? I am planning to prepare for the SAT myself. But when I underwent several college applications, I found that I need a counselor letter and some details related to the counselor.

Now Do I need a counselor? If so, where can I find him?

If your schools does not have a designated college counsellor, then in that case your school Principal would be your counsellor.

OK. Any other one? Like my 11th/12th grade teacher?

[If I do not have a school counselor, who should complete my Secondary School Report? | Yale College Admissions](http://admissions.yale.edu/faq/if-i-do-not-have-school-counselor-who-should-complete-my-secondary-school-report)

“A tutor, house master, principal, academic advisor, or another comparable school official can complete the form and recommendation.”

You know what, even though TECHNICALLY anialways is quoting from an admissions website, I actually e-mailed colleges about this when I was starting apps because my principal was out of town. Almost all colleges told me they really PREFER the counselor to be the Principal especially in an Indian school.
Their words. Not mine. I can only infer they don’t think much of our ethics system. Besides, if your school is anything like the ones I’ve been to, everything official will be signed by the Principal anyways.
