yes? no? recommended?

It would be recommended if you're going to take a lot of writing classes. I know I'm glad I had a printer with me for those MMW essay overnighters.

I would say yes. However, it's definitely possible to just use your suitemate's printer the entire year. That's what I did haha. I really used it A LOT. I had MMW and a bunch of political science classes with at least 2 papers in each (one of which consisted of NOTHING else but papers; there was no in-class midterm or final).

I survived without a printer.

Get and printer... Don't munch off your roommates.

^ Agreed. Don't leech.

laser printers can be had for about $50-100

I'd say if your roommate has a printer, then you should buy your own ink. Then that way it is not leeching at all.

Don't be afraid of leeching.

I mostly printed at a computer lab, and paid my suitemates $1 whenever I borrowed their printers. I spent much less than the price of a printer.

Well I guess my suitemates and I had a pretty open relationship. We pretty much took whatever we needed from each other. General reciprocity was expected.

You could just print stuff out at the libraries or a computer lab, but it gets kind of inconvenient during exam times... During finals week, I had to wait over an hour before my stuff came out of the printer...

i think the convenience of the printer is definitely worth it.

How do you prevent your suitemates or roommates from leeching?
Ink and paper can get rather costly if you're providing for the whole suite =P

How do you arranges prices or what not?

Lovelynight - They will not pay. You can ask, but they won't

So what are tactful ways to control it?

People usually bring their own printer. There was only 1 person in my suite last year who didn't. Let them print a few times, but if they keep asking point them in a different direction :)

Hide your printer

Say it doesn't work.

well there's no way i'm bringing a printer...i'm coming from out of state and that's already too much for me to carry. if no one is going to bring a printer, then we'll all prob put in money together and buy printer and ink since there will be three of us in the room.
