Do I need a SAT Physics Subject Test score if I'm applying as a computer science major?

Hi All.

I’m applying to highly selective universities (schools such as Northwestern and Cornell) as a computer science major, and I do not have an SAT Physics subject score.

However, I do have 800 in both Math II and Literature. I did not really consider that I might need an SAT Physics score for computer science (especially because I take physics as an IB HL course in school and thought this might show my sufficiency in physics), however, many people have been telling me that this is highly recommended for computer science.

I am applying to most schools to their computer science program in the college of arts and sciences, not their college of engineering.

Would my lack of an SAT II Physics score take away from my application? If so, should I take the January subject test for physics and rush report it? I was also considering not applying as a computer science major, as I haven’t submitted applications for some universities yet.

I’ve emailed some universities already to ask if an subject score is recommended but their offices are closed until after January 1, and by then I’ll need to have submitted my applications.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

A physics SAT II score is not needed- don’t worry about it.

its recommended to take 2 subject tests, so u will have to write math lvl2 and physics for example.

i would do it if i were you

@Derpthulu I do have 2 subject tests, Literature and Math II.

@guineagirl96 Thank you for the reassurance, I feel better now.
