Do I need a sport?

Hey everybody I've been posting kind of frequently so sorry if it's becoming annoying to some of you,

I'm going into my sophomore year with a 3.807 (non -weighted) GPA after 4 honors classes and going into 4 honors and one AP this year. I've been arguing recently with my mother about allowing me to participate on the track team, as it's something I enjoy and also I currently lack a sport on my transcript. She claims that I am already too busy to take on another activity.I am a member of my school's select band and jazz band, class president (this is going to be the second year), a soon to be Eagle Scout and therefore a Boy Scout(I've also held a leadership position in scouts for the past two years), employed part-time(since freshman year) and I may(emphasis on may) be looking into starting a club that benefits lower income schools in my local area. With all of that plus my GPA and class rigor(assuming I don't screw up too badly in the upcoming years), do you think a sport is necessary to get into an upper level school in this case?

You don’t need a sport. For our school, track/XC practice is quite time-consuming. Like I’ve said before, the majority of the people I know who have gone to top schools never even touched a sport (well, except for in PE when it was mandatory).

You don’t need a sport, but if you feel that it’s an integral part of your life and that you enjoy it very much, I would go for it. Sports aren’t for your transcript. Sports are to develop your character, leadership, teamwork, and to enjoy your teammates as you push each other to do better.

Enjoy life. Do track if you’d enjoy it and drop something you find tedious.

You don’t need any specific kind of EC.

You don’t need a sport, but if you like it then I say go for it. It will be a huge time commitment, keep in mind (I pretty much have no spare time when soccer season comes around), but you’ll likely find that being a part of a team was one of the most satisfying things you did during high school.
