So I'm applying UIUC, Purdue, University of Wisconsin-Mad., and Case Western but I didn't know that these schools required the ACT plus writing and my highest ACT score is a 28 but that's when I took the state required ACT test in May and I'm applying early action these schools. I took the ACT plus writing in February but I got a composite score of 26 and I'd rather not send that in. Does this mean I can't them schools my scores or I'll have to apply regular if I take the ACT in December?

See if your schools superscore your ACT. If they do, they’ll take the highest from each section including the writing. So check on that.

You have to send them a score with Writing. They may still accept the 28, but they need to see another test w/ writing.

That said, you’re applying to some OOS publics. Those are expensive and won’t give you aid if that’s what you need. If your parents won’t pay for those schools, then find others to apply to.

UIUC does not require the writing. As to the others, you will need to submit one with writing to even be considered for admission. The question is whether you can also submit the one without writing and have it considered. You will need to contact each college and ask what it does in that situation because some will still use the one without writing if it has the higher composite or use the highest section scores from the two tests, while others will not use one without writing at all. The problem is that the colleges don’t usually tell you what their current rule in that situation is on their on-line sites.

Okay thanks for the information that sucks that I didn’t score well on the act w/writing but I’ll still have to send those in.
