Do I need an Ivy reality check?

Hey guys, my resume for college is pretty solid. my extra-curriculars and scores are awesome, I've also by the end of high school will have taken 9 AP's, but then I run into a problem. I bombed freshman year big time, I had a 3.0 GPA. However by the end of Junior year, I will have a 3.65, due to the fact that my GPA from sophmore and junior year average to a 3.92/4.0
Do I still have a chance at the Ivies? any specific one? my dream is UPENN, and i want to go there ED, but I dont know whether this will take me out of the running or not (and is it true that Princeton doesnt even look at Freshman GPA?)

Well, what exactly are your SAT scores and EC’s? It’s hard to gauge if you have a chance based solely on your GPA, but in theory, yes–truly exceptional people will have a shot at these schools despite not having a near-perfect or perfect GPA. But you’ll have to offer something else extraordinary, most likely.

Truth. When they have the option to only take the best of the best of the best, they will choose the person with consistent top grades over the person who started out slow… at least that’s what seems logical. When everyone’s grades are already top notch, then the battle for the most inspirational life story comes into play.

And there’s so much confusement concerning what schools do and don’t look at… straight up, your high school will probably send its regular high school transcript which should include freshman year grades. If they’re so easy for admissions officers to see, why wouldn’t they consider them?

You don’t not have a chance, if you get what I’m saying… it is just painfully true that you won’t get any of them if you aren’t outstanding among incredibly amazing fellow applicants. Even the most “perfect” application will get some rejections.
