I'm sorry, but every school on that list is a reach for you, and some look impossible. Got a class rank? A 1230 SAT (old) is really low for all those schools not named Bucknell or Colgate, and being asian really isn't going to help. I suggest you trim some ivies off, add a lot more matches and safties.

okay a 1870 with no hooks.... almost no way for cornell.....dont send ur AP scores ur 1s would look so bad...
and NO WAY FOR HYP...i mean...they expect more from us asians

whats HYP?

you have lots of ecs but your stats are low (1870 SAT??)maybe a few safeties from one tier lower..? i wouldn't count you in for ivies but 2nd or 3rd tier maybe..

o and do you have some suggestions for matches? i couldnt really find appealing ones

Edit: Saw class rank, that should help.

HYP is an acronym for Harvard Yale Princeton, representing the toughest colleges to get into

Why don't you tell us what you want in a college (geograhy, size, etc.), then we can help? I think you may want to do a little more research yourself.

Boonies, do you have a college counselor or any help? I think everyone is saying that we're surprised by your list because your stats are not in range for most of your schools which you can see by looking up the common data set for each of your schools or spending $15 to access US News online.

Your best bet for match and safety schools is to post on the parent's board.

umm ok, ill post it on the parents board
but i want to go to a school in a rural or suburban area on the east coast, preferably NY, PA, MD, or in that area (I have family there) and I live in CA
I want to go to a school that has a good pre med program too and a lot of clubs and organization to join
Im not big on frat/sorority schools either

o and suze, my counselor is a dummy, i hate to say it. hes like the one in Orange county the movie.
I asked him how many SAT IIs i need for Cornell Univ. and he said, "I doubt that you need any to apply" ......hmmm....ok....lol
and everyday, he drives his BMW 740 to school and covers it with a car cover, its soo sad lol

How bout Penn State, Pitt, Stony Brook, or the University of Maryland? The UCs might not be a bad idea, if you want to stay in Cali (I would).

He's obviously not paying for the BMW with outside counseling!

You can get into pleanty of good schools. ucs are a good idea in that your sats are fine there, but your list seems to suggest you want small. Mayb4e a UC and then transfer?

For small, focus on the SAT optional schools: Middlbury and Bowdoin are good choices. Also maybe look at Occidental, Whitman, Reed, Trinity (CT).

How about Hamilton College? SATs are optional there. Do i have a good chance?

As long as your frewhman year was good and the ranking includes that year, I think you're a strong candidate at Hamilton and all the SAT optional schools.

Might want to add Holy Cross-top30 LAC very similar to Colgate and Bucknell. Holy Cross has better location-1 hour from Boston while other 2 schools are more remote.

Are there any other SAT optional schools?

There are a TON listed here. Although there might be too many to sift through, it's worth a look: http://www.fairtest.org/optinit.htm

You're in.

I don't think Hamilton is score optional in the same way that Bowdoin is - for Hamilton you have to submit either SAT I, or some combo of SAT II's/AP's - check out their website.

Holy Cross is SAT optional and believe Bates is also.
