Hello everyone. I am currently a junior in high school who wants to major in nursing. Right now I currently have Chemistry Honors, Living Environment from 8th grade, Earth Science, and Forensic Chemistry on my transcript. I was going to take AP Bio but switched last minute when I realized I don’t have physics. But when I got into my physics class, the teacher could barely speak English and overall I knew I wouldn’t do well in her class. So my last resort was forensic chemistry. I also have a Nursing Program on my transcript, so when I graduate I have a CNA certificate. The class is for two periods every other day. The other day I will be at a nursing home for my clinical in this program and it takes up half of my schedule. It also counts as both volunteer and community hours. I am willing to take out lunch and other electives to take Physics which is two periods every other day. I am not able to take AP Bio or Chem next year because it is two periods every day and it won’t be able to fit on my schedule. The first school on my list is Stony Brook University and I really want to get in. I would like to know if not taking physics will hurt my chances of getting into not only my top choice but all the other schools I plan to apply to but did not mention.
My guidance counselor told me schools usually like to see Bio, Chem, and Physics on your high school transcript, but idk if it could hurt you
