I'm planning on applying to UPenn this fall and was wondering what their stand was on the TOEFL. I was born in the US, and hold American citizenship. I lived there for the first eight years of my life. I have really good English grades and did pretty well on the Cr portion of the SAT. Do I need to write the TOEFL?

If English is your native language, you don’t need to take the TOEFL. Otherwise, you are encouraged to take the test. If you scored above 650 (I think) on the CR section, you can ask for a TOEFL waiver. My advice is to aim for a 700+ on the CR section of the SAT and ignore the TOEFL; pretty much all schools will waive the TOEFL if you score that well.
